When a plan is displayed, the Hints dialog may be displayed.

There are separate hints dialogs for site plans and floor plans.

Hints dialogs are not displayed in a Private/Incognito window.

On a plan you can:

Dialogs are used to communicate with Map Enquiry, and to display details.

Two modal dialogs are used, one to display messages and the other to request confirmation of an action. Click the message text to select it for copying to the clipboard.

Click the Details... button to launch a new page containing full details of the building. This function is not available if access to the building is denied.

Click the Dashboard... button to launch the Map Enquiry dashboard page for the building.

Click the Floor Plan... button to select a floor plan of the building. This is normally its ground floor.

Click the BIM... button To Select the Building Information Model (BIM) Of the building. This button Is only displayed If the building has a BIM.

These functions are Not available If access To the building Is denied.

On a floor plan with the room features layer displayed, click a room to display a dialog containing brief details about it, and an optional image such as a photograph of it.

Click the Dashboard... button to launch the Map Enquiry dashboard page for the room.

If an occupant label is currently displayed, the room image is omitted and an occupant list is added. If the occupants label is displayed then all occupants are listed; if a flagged occupants label is displayed (e.g. fire wardens) then list icons are coloured according to that flag; if the latter but not the former is displayed then only occupants with that flag are listed.

The room dialog may include a Quick Edit section for editing fields selected by your system administrator.

Click the Save button to save changed values, when a 'Room updated' message is issued, and if labels or colours are currently displayed for these fields, they are updated.

Click the Details... button to launch a new page containing full details of the room. Click the Timetable... button (if available) to launch a new page containing the room timetable. These functions are not available if access to the room is denied.

On any plan with a point features layer displayed, click a point feature to display a dialog containing its description:


The selected feature flashes until another dialog is displayed.

If the feature has additional details, the dialog is instead displayed like this:

If the dialog includes >> or Details..., click this to launch a page containing details of the feature.

If more than one point feature is nearby, a dialog with the description of each feature is displayed:





Click a description with >> to visit its details page, or zoom in to separate the features, then click the desired feature.

The point feature details page may include a Hearsay feature:

Hearsay lets you comment on the feature, and displays the comments of others. Click the text area, enter a comment, then press the Send button. Press the Close button to close this page.

The top menu may include the following buttons:

The Labels, Colours and Legend buttons are only shown if the building layer is displayed on a site plan, or the rooms layer on a floor plan.

The Legend button is only shown if colours are defined.

The Multi Plan button is only shown when viewing a floor plan of a building with more than one floor.

Click the menu Plans button to display the Plans dialog for selecting a different plan. Click a plan button to display that plan. The button for the current plan is displayed differently.

If the current plan is a site plan you can select a different site plan.

Click EXIT to finish using Map Enquiry.







If the current plan is a floor plan you can select a different floor plan.

Click SITE to display the site plan, on which the current building is zoomed to, and flashes until another dialog is displayed.








If multiple floor plans are displayed (e.g. by Footprint) you can select one to display in a new page.

Retain plan labels



When this dialog is displayed for multiple floor plans (e.g. using Footprint), they are labelled as in the dialog, and you can:

Tick the Retain plan labels checkbox to keep plan labels displayed after this dialog is dismissed.

If multiple floor plans are displayed, the following menu items are not available: Plan Details, Home, 3D, Multi Plan, Find Way, Zone Location, Occupant Groups, Share, plus the following: GPS icon, WMS layers, Draw / Point with measurement text, Edit / Locate.

Click the menu Plan Details button to launch a new page containing full details of the current site or floor plan.

Click the menu Home button to zoom a plan to its initial view. This button is available when displaying plans whose initial view is zoomed in.

Click the menu Features button to display the Features dialog, which lists the categories of feature in a plan.

Click a layer button to make that layer visible or invisible. Buttons for invisible layers, and buttons for layers whose features can be selected are displayed differently.








For more extensive layers, the dialog may display a folder tree structure:



Click a folder button to display or hide its contents.

Layer button styles signify whether that layer may be toggled independant of others (e.g. a checkbox style) or is one of a group of alternatives (e.g. a radio or option button style).

NOTE that some feature layers may be permanently displayed.

NOTE that when using Android browsers, and desktop Chrome, Firefox and Edge browsers, layers that are initially hidden are loaded "on demand" when first made visible. When using iOS browsers, all layers are initially loaded.

Click the menu Labels button to display the Labels dialog, which lists the information that can be included in a label on each building or room, and on items in point feature layers. Click a label button to include or exclude that information in labels. Buttons for excluded information are displayed differently.






For floor plans, the Labels dialog may include an occupants entry and one or more flagged occupants entries (e.g. to display fire wardens), which are treated as follows:

NOTE that labels are not displayed if they would show too much information at the current zoom level: either exclude some information from labels, or zoom in to see them.

Click the menu Colours button to display the Colours dialog, which lists the attributes that can be used to colour items. Click an entry to colour items according to that attribute, and display a legend describing the colours. Click NONE to remove the current colouring. One button is displayed differently to indicate the current colouring.







Entries may include the attributes of point layers. For these, label backgrounds are coloured, so they must be labelled to see these colours.

Click the menu Legend button to display a legend describing the current colouring, either for the current colour theme or for items selected using the Draw dialog, and/or visible point items. The legend also provides item count and area statistics.

If there is both colouring and visible point items, the dialog initially lists them - select the one required, or Both.

Click a colour or its description to change it. Changes remain until a new plan is selected.

Click the red diagonal to remove the legend entry.

If point feature layers are visible, the legend may also include point icon descriptions.

Click a description to change it. Changes remain until a new plan is selected.

Click the menu Multi Plan button to display additional floor plans.

Enter the X, Y and Z plan offsets:

Plan offsets may be negative to reverse the display order.

A button for each floor of the current building is displayed. Click a floor button to select whether it is to be displayed or not. The current floor plan is always displayed.

Click the DISPLAY button to display the selected floor plans with the specified offsets.

Note that Plan Details, Draw, Find Way and Print (if available) apply to the initial plan only.

Click the menu Draw button to draw on the current plan.

Text height, symbol size and line width are relative to the current view scale - zoom the plan to obtain different sizes.

Text, symbols, rectangles and ovals are drawn horizontally regardless of the current plan rotation - rotate the plan to obtain different angles.

Click the Select button to select or deselect buildings on site plans or rooms on floor plans. Selected items are coloured according to the current fill colour and hatch. The Legend dialog shows selected item colours, and the Report dialog lists selected items.

Click the Lasso Select button to select or deselect items by drawing a lasso that encloses them.

Click the Text button to draw text in the current pen colour. Click at top left, type text, click to end.

Click the Freehand button to draw freehand lines in the current pen colour and line width, using a left mouse button press-slide-release action.

Click the Point button to draw a point shown as the current symbol, using a left mouse click.

Click the Lines or Area button to draw a sequence of straight lines or a polygonal area in the current pen colour, line width, fill colour and hatch, using a left mouse click at each vertex, and a double click to end.

Click the Rectangle or Oval button to draw a rectangle or oval in the current pen colour, line width, fill colour and hatch, using a left mouse button press-slide-release action.

Click the point symbol to display a symbol selector. The message No other symbols are available is displayed if this is the case, otherwise click a symbol to select it.

Select the line width, which may be from 1 (thin) to 8 (thick).

Select the fill transparency, which may be from 0 (opaque) to 100 (transparent).

Click the pen or fill colour to display a colour selector. Click a colour to select it. Click the red diagonal to specify no colour.

Click the fill hatch to display a similar hatch selector. Click a hatch to select it. Click the red diagonal to specify no hatch (the default). This selector is displayed if your system administrator has defined hatch patterns.

Click the measurement text value to toggle it between no and yes. When it is yes, measurement values are added as text at half size while drawing points (their coordinates), lines (their lengths) and areas (their areas).

Click the Undo button to delete the most recently added drawn item.

Click the Delete button to delete a specific drawn item. Click the item, which is highlit with an enclosing black rectangle. The confirmation Remove this item? is requested before proceeding.

Click the Clear All button to delete all drawn items, and deselect any selected items. The confirmation Remove all drawn items? is requested before proceeding.

Click the Save button to save drawn items as a file. The methods of selecting the file location and naming the file depend on the device and browser, and in some cases its settings.

Click the Recall button to recall drawn items from a previously saved file. The method of selecting the file depends on the device and browser. If drawn items currently exist, the confirmation This will replace currently drawn items - continue? is requested before proceeding. If the selected file is not a previously saved file the message This is not a saved drawing file occurs.

Click the Item Link button to send selected items to a web page whose functionality is defined by your organisation, and described in its button caption.

Click the Multi-Edit button to edit the feature fields (excluding amenities) of selected items (of any fill colour). Field values that are the same for all items are shown, otherwise "-varies-" is shown; in either case new values can be entered, and Save updates the items. Multi-Edit is only available for default facility types.

Click the top menu Search button to change the search option, and enter search text in the top menu search box.






Search options are configured by your system administrator to optimise common search tasks.

For Local Search, enter text to display a list of features whose names contain that text.




Click an entry in the list to zoom to that feature, turning on its layer if necessary, and flashing it until another dialog is displayed.

If the search option is NOT Local Search, enter search text and then use Enter to submit the search. The search result may include buildings, rooms, people, assets and documents on any plan.

Click a result to display the site or floor plan containing that building or room, which is zoomed to and flashes until another dialog is displayed.

The search option Advanced specifies advanced search, in which search text is processed as terms normally separated by spaces.

The following search terms can be included:

Building search results are shown if a site or building location search term has been included, or if a building name contains any other term.

Room search is performed according to room feature settings configured by your system administrator as follows:

People search works as follows:

Asset search may be qualified by site, building, floor and room terms to restrict results.

Document search may be qualified by site, building, floor and room terms to restrict results.

If multiple facility types are in use, and the first term is a facility type (e.g. CP for car parks), then the building, floor, room equivalents for that facility type are searched instead. In this case, note that the above building, floor, room keywords should still be used to refer to their equivalent facility types.

Click the menu Print button to print the current view.

Select a print template from a list defined by your system administrator.

The print template may a include a title identifying the site or building and floor, the current date, and the scale (for plan views), and may also include additional fields. Text entered for these fields is shown on the template.

Click the Print Preview button to show the current view in this template. If only one template is defined, with no additional fields, the Print button does this directly.

The view may be panned and zoomed as usual.

The following preferred plan scales have been defined by your system administrator: 50, 100, 200, 250, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000, 20000, 50000, 100000, 200000, 500000. The largest scale at which the plan view fits within the template is used. This can be overridden by zooming, using the mouse wheel. With the Ctrl key pressed, zooming snaps to preferred scales.

Click the Print button to print, using the browser's printing function. In this, be sure to select a paper size and orientation that matches the print template.

Note that each type of browser implements printing in a different way:

Click the Cancel button (or press the Esc key) to cancel printing.

Click the menu Help button to display this help page.

OTHER FUNCTIONS NOT CONFIGURED

Any functions shown below are not configured in this SISfm installation - contact your system administrator for advice.

The popup menu dialog is displayed using a click anywhere on a plan except on a building, room or point feature, and may include the following buttons:






























The top menu may include the following buttons:

The Download button is only shown if the plan has layers that can be downloaded.

The Edit button is only shown if a point features layer which you are authorised to edit is visible.

The Footprint button is only shown when viewing a site plan.

The Zone Location button is only shown when viewing a floor plan.

The Occupant Groups button is only shown when viewing a floor plan.

Click the menu Dashboard button to launch the Map Enquiry dashboard page in a new window.

Dashboard charts are defined by your system administrator. This button is not displayed if none are defined.

Data for the charts is selected for the current plan.

To obtain a dashboard page for all sites, use the All Sites Dashboard button on the initial site plan selector.

Click the menu Zoom In button to zoom a plan in.

Click the menu Zoom Out button to zoom a plan out.

Click the menu Zoom Previous button to zoom a plan to its previous view. This button is most useful after selecting a Local Search result.

Click the menu 3D button to display a plan in an Isometric view.








In an Isometric view, use a vertical right mouse button press-slide-release action to change the angle between the X and Y axes and the horizontal from the initial 30° for an Isometric projection, to a Dimetric projection angle which may range from 3° for a low projection, to 45° for an Oblique Military (or Bird's flight view) projection.

Use a horizontal right mouse button swipe to rotate to the next projection compass point, retaining the current projection angle.

Use a right mouse button double click to return to the Plan view.

Pan and zoom an Isometric view in the same way as a plan view.

Unlike other dialogs, displaying the 3D dialog does not remove a flashing feature, or a find way route.

Click the menu Point Features button to display the Point Features dialog, which lists the categories of point feature in a plan.

Click the menu Download button to display the Download dialog, which lists layers that can be downloaded.






This dialog is like the Features dialog, but only includes layers that can be downloaded.

The file used to create the layer is downloaded (for example a DWG file).

Note that the same file may have been used to create more than one layer, using filters; the original unfiltered file is downloaded.

Click a layer button to download its file.

Click the menu Report button to display a report on buildings on site plans or rooms on floor plans, optionally limited to those selected using the Draw dialog.

If there is more than one facility type on site plans, or reports by Report Maker exist, the dialog initially lists them - select the one required.

Report fields are defined by your system administrator, can include any theme field, and numeric columns can be totalled.

Click a column heading to sort the report on that column; Click again to reverse the sort order

In desktop browsers, text in the bottom row of the report can be selected, then Ctrl-A used to select the whole report, then Ctrl-C to copy it to the clipboard for pasting into another application, such as a spreadsheet.

Your system administrator can also define reports from the Report Maker module, which can be launched directly from here.

Data for the reports is selected for the current plan, or for the currently selected building/room, as indicated in the above dialog.

Click a report button to launch that report in a new window.

Click the menu Footprint button to colour theme buildings with rooms of selected ownership (Business Unit, Division or Department) or classification (Room Category or Room Type). This button is only available for site plans.

Select the building floor Multiple... option to select more than one floor, and use Floor Plans... to display them in a new window, where the Plans dialog is initially displayed so that they can be arranged. Each plan is limited to rooms with the selected values, and those rooms are coloured accordingly.

Click the menu Edit button to edit features on visible point feature layers. The Edit button is only available if you are authorised to do this for at least one such layer.

Click the New button to commence creating a new feature. The ID value is cleared, but other values are retained. If you are authorised to edit more than one point feature layer, only one of these may be visible to add new features.

Click the Select button to select an existing feature for editing (or as the basis for creating a new feature), then click the feature on the plan. The feature starts flashing, and its ID and other values are displayed.

Click the Unlocated button to edit an existing feature which has not yet been located. Their IDs and descriptions are displayed in a list of additional buttons. If features have a relationship with buildings on site plans, or rooms on floor plans, the IDs of such parents are also shown. Enter text in the Filter text box to only display buttons whose labels contain that text. Click one to select it for editing. Click the Unlocated button again to remove the list.

Click a value to change it. Some values are changed using a selector, some by entering text (try it above).

If the ID value is an integer it is displayed read-only, and the next highest value is used when saving new items; otherwise it is displayed for editing, and its value is tested for uniqueness when saving.

Click the Locate button to specify the location of a new feature, or a new location for an existing feature, then click the plan. A cross is displayed to indicate the location.

Click the Clear Location button to remove the location of a feature.

Click the Delete button to permanently remove the currently selected feature. The confirmation Delete this feature? is requested before proceeding. If no feature is currently selected the message nothing selected occurs.

Click the Save button to save a new feature, or changes to an existing feature.

If the feature's location is not defined, and you have allowed the use of your current location, and your location is within the plan, the confirmation Feature not located - use current location? occurs. If this is cancelled, the feature is saved unlocated.

If the feature's parent would be changed, a confirmation is requested before proceeding, for example Are you SURE that you want to change the ownership of this feature from SITE to Building 1?

The confirmation Insert this feature? or Update this feature? is requested before proceeding.

The feature is not saved if the message [insert|update|delete] operation failed (reason) occurs, where reason may be a value is required for ID, or record already exists with ID=value.

Note that links to feature details pages cannot be created or changed, and icon scale and rotation cannot be edited, however a new feature based upon a selected feature will have the same icon scale and rotation.

Click the menu Custom Link button to query the map.

Click the map to launch a page configured by your system administrator, which may show details of the map coordinates or of the item there

Click the menu Find Way button to obtain a suggested route between two places on the current plan using a specified method of travel. In the Find Way dialog, click the By, From and To fields and select or change their values (try it below).

The Find Way button is not available if the Way Finder server is not running, or if there is no route data for the current plan (or for its site if a floor plan), and it is not available for floor plans if Safari Private Browsing is On.

The place Current Location is available if you have allowed the use of your current location, and is set as the From place if one has not previously been specified.

Places are selected either using a pulldown as above, or by search, as configured by your system administrator.

If the current plan is a floor plan and there is no route data for it, its site plan places will be shown plus the place Current Building, and its site plan will be displayed to show the route.

Click the Route... button to display and zoom to the route on the plan, and display the Route dialog with a summary and a description of each section of the route. The Route dialog can be moved and dismissed like other dialogs, or click the route summary to dismiss it. The route is removed when the next dialog is displayed.

Click a description to zoom to and highlight that section of the route, and to receive an audio version of the description. On desktop devices, use the down and up arrow keys to select the next or previous section.

Click a selected description to zoom back to the whole route.

Click Show Step Buttons to show the plan only, with four buttons at left:.

Some places and route sections may not be accessible within certain time periods, which may affect the routes chosen. If either of the From or To places are not accessible, their unavailable times are displayed.

If no route can be found, which should not normally occur, this is advised.

Click the menu Zone Location button to locate room zones. This button is only available for floor plans, and if you are authorised to do this.

The floor plan zones layer is displayed.








Enter text in the Filter text box to only display room zone buttons whose labels contain that text.

Click a room zone button, then click the plan to locate or relocate it. An icon representing the zone is displayed (provided a suitable room zones layer is visible).

Buttons for room zones which are not yet located are shown in bold text.

Click the Validate button to test that zones are located within their rooms, and that their rooms are occupiable. This can occur if the room layout, room categories and room types have changed. The latter test is only made if label or colour themes exist for room category and room type. Results may include the following messages:

Click the menu Share button to display the URL for the current view. Copy and paste this into documents or emails.



Click the menu Feedback button to send an message to your Map Enquiry feedback administrator.





Enter your feedback message, then click the SEND button. Your message will be sent by email, with a copy to you.

An Information Panel is displayed on the right. It can be resized by dragging a narrow panel at its left edge, and hidden and restored by clicking this panel.

This is an accordion panel with multiple pages of information, and is updated to match other actions:

Whenever an accordion page is displayed, details in lower pages are cleared, and details in higher pages are retained. Select an accordion bar to display its details page.

Each details page may contain:

If the information panel is wide, subsequent details may be displayed in more than one column, otherwise in a single column (and if displayed, occupant details omit the department column).
